Summer Matters Workshop & Planning Sessions

December 12, 2016

Two Options for Summer Planning Help
The Summer Matters campaign has partners across the state who can help your district plan a great summer program. Choose between a workshop for your school board or a series of planning sessions for district staff. Either option will jump start your district’s journey to great summer programming.

Workshops for School Boards
In this free, interactive workshop designed with the CSBA for Boards of Education, school board members work with key leadership staff and community partners to explore, discuss and prioritize opportunities to bring summer learning to their district and community. By the end of the workshop, participating school board members have a shared understanding and concrete next steps for summer planning. The three to four hour sessions take place at a specific date and time determined by the district.

Planning Sessions for District Staff
This four-session planning series helps school district staff set the vision, goals and planning timeline for a strong summer learning program. The series involves senior district staff, summer staff, and community partners in envisioning their ideal summer program, identifying specific strategies, and planning for implementation. The fourth meeting takes place in the fall, allowing staff to debrief their summer experience and start planning for the following summer. In between meetings, staff can access up to 4 hours of coaching support from their Summer Matters expert.
