Summer Matters and CSBA Offer Governance Workshops to School Boards

Summer Matters Workshop:
 Supporting Summer Planning for School Boards of Education

The California School Boards Association and Partnership for Children and Youth are pleased to offer this free workshop to help Boards of Education plan effective summer learning programs that promote student achievement and wellness. The interactive workshop is designed to engage School Board members, key leadership staff, and community partners in exploring, discussing and strategizing about the role of summer learning in their districts. By the end of the workshop, participating School Board members will:

  • Understand the importance of summer learning and their role as school board members;
  • Consider the strengths, opportunities and challenges in developing and implementing a summer learning plan in their district;
  • Set next steps that address the needs of students, and leverage assets of their districts and

Participating School Board members will leave the session with a shared understanding and concrete next steps for summer planning. The 3-4 hour session will take place in the evening at a specific date and time to be determined with each district.
